Oasis Island -Growing chair

Green spaces in a heart of the city are continuously decreasing. Due to the boom of economic and the transmigration, the tower and condominiums are devouring a city space and green area. This is causing of poor quality of living in the city. Same as the outdoor area for the residential, a back yard in a house is no longer exist. the only area left is a small balcony in the high rise apartment.

One of the most noteworthy features of contemporary furniture design during the past year has been as effort to make use of natural material or, at least, to utilize processes that are environment-friendly. Oasis collection is taking this approach. Not only do we consciously use natural materials, we strive to incorporate living materials that help to ‘Grow’ our design.

Oasis collection is an aim for bring back the green space to this limited outdoor area. By covering of Vine, Air plant or orchid, this plant will represent as the furniture’s fabric. An alive covering can transform a chair from the flower pattern in the morning to a greenish texture in the evening. With an innovative metal finishing, this outdoor furniture can be watered in the same time with the plant.

According to the Bangkok Design Festival  http://www.bangkokdesignfestival.com/2008/events/Plato.php, PLATO will collaborate with the French Landscape designer to create the Moulin Rough and Fairy Tale garden concept on the Oasis chairs. The exhibition will held on the Siam Paragon Cascade from 14 - 21 October.
