One of the most interesting chandeliers for me at ICFF this year was by a company called Non Fiction Design Collective, based in Ohio. Ohio…really? I have never been to Ohio so I have no idea why I am surprised but I am, and pleasantly so. The chandelier that fascinated me was made out of rats. They take real freeze-dried rats and mold them and then enlarge the mold to make these rats just a little more…well, scary. They are then cast in porcelain. They actually have cute little faces and the chandelier was not at all scary for me. What made it fun was the addition of the little berries in their mouths and the red added a whimsical touch. I am planning to use this over a sink in a powder room for my client Paige who was as enchanted as I was.
